Advancing Food Security in Arab Countries through AI, Business and Innovation

The training programme aims to explore how emerging technologies, entrepreneurial innovation and strategic marketing can strengthen sustainable food systems across the Arab region. The programme will examine the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving agricultural productivity, food distribution, supply chain management, consumer awareness and policy decision-making. It will also highlight how businesses, start-ups and marketing strategies can support food sustainability, reduce waste and enhance regional resilience in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme is designed for academics, policymakers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals and students interested in sustainable development and innovation-led food security solutions.
About World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD)
World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) and its London Institute of Sustainable Development (LISD) play a leading role in promoting sustainable development (SD) through global knowledge exchange, research collaboration and capacity building. As an international forum, WASD and LISD bring together academics, researchers, policymakers, professionals, industry experts and students to discuss critical issues related to science, technology and sustainable development. Through their conferences, seminars, training programmes, workshops, journals, books and international development projects, WASD and LISD support evidence-based solutions that contribute to achieving the UN 2030 Agenda and its 17 SDGs. WASD and LISD collaborate with universities, research centres, governmental institutions and international partners worldwide, particularly in developing countries, to strengthen institutional capabilities and support transformation initiatives.
In this training programme, WASD provides participants with access to global expertise, research insights and practical strategies that bridge technology, business and sustainable food security in the Arab region. The course will be facilitated by several world-renowned experts in the field.
Food Security is gaining an enormous interest since COVID Pandemic and Ukraine-Russa conflict. Supporting planning and decision making for food security is now on the top agenda of states and international organisations. in addition to AI, this programme has been designed to introduce a variety of fundamental perspectives on Digital Transformation (DT), Data Science (DS) and Knowledge Management (KM) to support a more intelligent and comprehensive planning and decision support in many aspects.
The aim of this programme is to develop an upgraded critical mass of experts and policy makers cross the Arab world that can use these smart tools applied to food security planning and decision support. This introductory course aims at providing participants with insights on how data-related methods are used to tackle and monitor food security. It gives an overview of a data science based approach.
